Will BSC continue to compete in athletics after the Spring of 2024 academic year?

No. BSC will continue to complete in all Spring 2024 sports.

Do I need to request to be entered into the Transfer Portal?

It is not required but If you want to enter the transfer portal. Please send an email to Sheri Salmon at [email protected]. You will need to complete this google form by April 15, to be placed in the portal https://forms.gle/2QnaNC5ysAmGf68M8. If you are interested in transferring to a Div III school, you will be granted a blanket permission to contact. A tracer on BSC letterhead will be emailed to you upon receipt of your final grades.

Can I file for an extension on a semester of eligibility?

Yes. Any athlete who wants an extension of full-time semester used can make a request with the transferring institution upon completion of the allotted 10 semesters.

Will my transfer tracer be valid after BSC closes?

Yes, information on all BSC student athletes will remain in the portal until the athlete has matriculated to a new institution.

How will my new school get the eligibility information they need?

All the information needed on eligibility is included on the transfer tracer that is in the Transfer Portal. Once the spring term ends, the transfer tracer will be updated to reflect spring 2024 semester grades. Upon request, BSC can provide a hard copy of your BSC eligibility.

Can I talk to coaches at other colleges or reach out to other college coaches?

Yes, BSC student-athletes can talk to other coaches starting March 27, 2024 or as soon as they are in the Transfer Portal.

What makes a student eligible to play at another institution?

Eligible students must be in good academic standing at BSC, meaning students who are not on academic probation, suspension, etc. You also must meet the minimum cumulative and term gpa requirements at the end of spring 2024. All student-Athletes will be granted a full release to transfer and will be entered into the transfer portal if you complete the google form mentioned above by the deadline. In accordance with NCAA Division III Bylaw 13.1.1.2, BSC grants immediate permission to contact other institutions to all student athletes.
